No optic to mount and co-witness. The R1 draws the reticle straight onto the thermal image. A digital dot in three sizes and three colours, and you can zero it to your rig so the dot lands exactly where your shots do. Airsofters zero it to their red dot for clean hits past 20 m; hunters zero to point of impact.

Compared with the listed DRS-TH thermal field of view, R1 gives almost twice the horizontal scene width and roughly 3.5x the visible thermal area. It is also much lighter for fast airsoft scanning.
The HP06 has an extremely wide view, but it is an older 17 µm and 25 Hz class platform. R1 uses a 12 µm format with 60 Hz refresh for more natural panning and tracking.

Yes. Thermal imaging detects emitted heat, not reflected light, so the R1 sees in complete darkness with no moonlight, no IR illuminator and nothing to reveal your position. It also cuts through smoke, fog and light foliage.
